O

On worried parents, family, and friends

Everyone in this world that I have ever met will confront their own death one day.

I’ll die in Israel, hopefully from old age and surrounded by my awesome family. And lots of books.

The world does not end when we do.

I mentioned to my father yesterday in an email that the safety of the Jewish people and of Israel is more important than my personal safety, though that doesn’t mean I’m going to be foolhardy. I will react as circumstances allow.

I have researched thoroughly and I am confident in my decision. I will contribute to Israel’s economy, learn its customs and, in my very small way, help it continue as a society.

I’m going to help the Jewish people stay alive in a place that I hope will one day be safer.

It will never be safer until many, many Jews and non-Jews work together as best they can.

Israel is a nation built on immigrants and its strength is its people.

The clearest way to champion Israel, in my mind, is to immigrate there.

If we make the effort now, our children can live there for generations to come, and hopefully with less strife than we deal with in our times.

We are at a critical moment in modern history and it is up to the people right now to say, for this cause, any small or large sacrifice will be worth it in the end.
